The symptoms and discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, fatigue and insomnia can really impact your life, but acupuncture is a safe and effective means of managing them.
Acupuncture is an effective method of managing conditions your little one might experience including colic, asthma, anxiety and digestive disorders.
Using acupuncture, I work with women to achieve better health and vitality and treat conditions including menstrual irregularity, chronic pain, menopause and more.
" Stephanie used acupuncture to treat my very painful hip bursitis. The first treatment brought immediate and dramatic improvement, and with a few follow-up sessions, the bursitis healed completely. Thank-you!"
Hello and welcome. I'm Stephanie, a registered acupuncturist in Vancouver and member of the Obstetrical Acupuncture Association. My passion is supporting women through the most transformative time in life.
Throughout my own pregnancies I realized what a powerful tool acupuncture can be for women during this amazing journey. Not only is it a great way to manage the physical discomforts of pregnancy and prepare your body for giving birth, it also helps bring the mind, body, and emotions back into alignment so that true healing can occur.
My goal is to provide holistic care (an approach that addresses both the emotional and physical aspects of your health) that is tailored to your unique needs. I really believe that when you take care of yourself and feel your best, you’ll have more energy, more enthusiasm, and more love to give to those around you.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been practiced for thousands of years. It involves inserting tiny, fine needles into very specific points in order to adjust the flow of Qi (energy) in the body. According to Chinese theory, when blood or Qi do not flow smoothly, pain and illness result. Stimulating specific acupuncture points can unblock obstructions and restore the circulation of blood and Qi.
Since it works by stimulating the body’s innate, self-healing processes, acupuncture is a safe and natural treatment. Acupuncture is nearly always painless and most people find it very relaxing.
Acupuncture for kids and babies
Yes! Kids and babies love acupuncture. It’s true! Here are a few common questions about paediatric acupuncture:
Will it hurt?
I use special, extra tiny needles and most kids don’t even feel them.
Does my child have to stay still?
Nope! I insert and remove the needles quickly. They don’t have to stay in like adult acupuncture so it only takes a few seconds to treat each point.
What if my child is scared or refuses to be needled?
I have a variety of non-needle acupuncture techniques that are just as effective for kids. I never force a treatment on a child. Learn more about my different treatment options here.
What if my child cries or has a meltdown?
That’s ok! At Klinik there are several practitioners who work with kids so we are all used to a little drama sometimes.
